Wolter (John Worldpeace) vs. Delgatto (Heights Presbyterian Church)

From 2002 to 2004, Max Tribble (pictured left) of Susan Godfrey et. al. law firm defended pro bono Joe and Madeline Delgatto, the Minister of Heights Presbyterian Church, and his wife, in a lawsuit brought by attorney John Worldpeace on behalf of his mother, Joyce Wolter, alleging various claims, including claims relating to Wolter’s objection to the church participating in a project to build and operate a retirement facility in a predominately-black area of Houston.  In 2004, the court dismissed the lawsuit and declared Wolter to be a vexatious litigant.  Attorney Worldpeace was disbarred.

Actually the preacher and several congregational members stole over $500,000 from the church and my mother, a 62 years member and elder of the church sued to get the money back. It did not happen. The money was gone. A year later the Presbytery, the next level up in the church hierarchy announced that they could not account for $1.500.000. But not to worry it was not stolen they said.

The project was a scam by other church members as well. The church has been losing about $5000 a month for a long time. They are projected to close their doors in two years. The $1.400.000 bequest would have kept the 100 year old church going another 30 years.

Oh well. Now you know the rest of the story.
