Observer gives an update to John Worldpeace and the run-in with a U.S. Marshal. Custody status: FUGITIVE!
This is entertaining and tragic at the same time. This just in, from a recent (open public record) court filing: U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas, case #H07-1029M, filed 11/14/07:"On or about November 13, 2007 ... defendant [John Worldpeace] did forcibly assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate, and interfere with Deputy U.S. Marshal David Pyka, while said officer was engaged in and on account of the performance of his official duties ... in Violation of Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 111(a) ..." The complaint then goes on to report:
"After a lengthy investigation and numerous trips to the Worldpeace property, on 11/13/2007 at 8:40am DUSM Pyka was in route to a house and garage apartment located at Houston, Texas to conduct a drive-by to ascertain if the weekly garbage cans had been placed out at residence believe occupied by John Worldpeace ... Upon driving northbound on Heights Blvd., I observed an individual with a blue cap jogging in the median n/bound ...
Copy of court filed case summaryHe fit the description of individual I know to be John Worldpeace from a prior TXDPS Driver License Image Retrieval Photo ... I immediately did a u-turn at the traffic light on W. 11th St. and observed the subject jog across the street toward the property ... proceed to turn into subject's driveway and at the same time turned on the blue and red lights located above the dash in my government vehicle. I identified myself and produced my badge, and advised subject I had a warrant for his arrest and to lay on the ground. He immediately ran toward his double-gated fence. I grabbed subject and attempted to place subject on the ground. he pulled away kicking me and knocked me to the ground where I sustained a scratch and a scrape mark on my left arm as well as a bruise on the left side of my torso. Subject yelled that I could not come on to his property. He managed to get thru the gate on the other side, and bolted and ran in thru the back door of the primary residence. By the time I got up he had reached his back door and made entry. I notified my supervisor ... who advised to discontinue pursuit. .... Due to the actions of John Worldpeace on November 13, 2007, I believe that John Worldpeace reisted and impeded myself, DUSM David Pyka from executing a lawful arrest warrant during my investigation and during my official duties".
