John Worldpeace (not) was released from federal prison on December 19, 2008. Beware.

A long time ago there was a warrant of commitment out on Worldpeace, for his contempt of court, still advertising himself as an attorney, despite being disbarred. But, I don't think he was arrested for that - the warrant was a couple of years ago, and was renewed once, but prosecuters would have to keep renewing it to keep it active.

Most recently, though, there was a warrant for his arrest, for failure to appear in court, related to his mother's bankruptcy case -- her trustee had called him into court because he was not trusting the filings coming from Joyce Wolter, and suspected Worldpeace was involved. Then, the trustee filed a separate case against Worldpeace, because of John's suspected involvement in the bankruptcy filings, as well as being personally (allegedly) harrassed and threatened by Worldpeace, through multiple emails and phone calls (in one email, Worldpeace threatened to email every attorney that he could, and set up "contra" websites, if the trustee failed to acquiesce to his demands -- boy, but doesn't that strategy sounds awfully familiar? John's a one trick pony, it would seem!).

The bankruptcy case itself has turned ugly - Wolter, through filings, has accused the trustee of conspiracy and fraud - shades of the same complaints Worldpeace made when he was disbarred, and after his failure in court to sue his own church. The bankruptcy case itself seems fraudulent (my opinion), as Wolter has admitted it was filed just to avoid a foreclosure, since she hadn't paid her mortgage in a few years. Part of it was perhaps confusion, as the holder of the mortgage has changed hands several times, and it appears she thought at one time that two different companies were trying to collect from her -- turns out, apparently, they were just arms of the same company, just with different names. In the meantime, court records show that Wolter got a reverse mortgage on her other house, to repay the back bortgage on the Heights house. This, of course, was done without court's approval, which is a no-no during a bankruptcy case.

Worldpeace has been evading this arrest warrant, but finally a marshall sighted and attempted to arrest him - Worldpeace resisted, and even managed to injure (again, allegedly) the marshall in the process. This has led to the filing of a separate complaint against Worldpeace.

So, it appears that's what he was arrested for - this resisting arrest complaint, as well as to remand him to appear in the bankruptcy case hearing.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's website, he's still in custody. The bankruptcy case hearing is very soon, so perhaps he'll be released after that hearing. But, then there's these other complaints against him (resisting arrest), that may stick a bit longer.
